  • There was a bug with the planetary foliage spawner where HISM trees were jittery when the camera moved.
  • I replaced HISM foliage with Static Mesh and Nanite foliage on a planet and the foliage stopped shaking when the camera moved.
  • This confirms that HISMs have double-precision issues with their coordinates in UE 5.1. It's best to use Nanite foliage with planetary worlds.

Planetary Foliage Spawner

  • I've modified the planetary foliage spawner to spawn trees only on voxel terrain in proximity to the player character but not beneath the sea level.
  • The trees spawn in a specified radius around the player.
  • Each tree has its own trajectory that aligns with the planet's core. There is no central point above the skies so that the foliage spawner works across the entire planet's surface.
